About Me
My name is Josiah Manzanares and I live and breathe for the freedom to create.
As far back as I can remember, before those very words would forever become associated with one of cinema’s finest lines, I always gravitated towards the arts with an almost instinctual curiosity. I’d wear out old VHS tapes by incessantly watching and rewatching them; I’d come under the spell of music and its mesmeric energy; I’d obsess over literature and artwork that moved me. Throughout the years, my gravitation evolved into a profound passion for creativity, art and culture—they’re more than just constructs or intelligences in the brain; they’re an energy, a form of emotional release that can be therapeutic and healing. I originally thought that culture was just something we used to create bonds and community; now I see that it’s also how we create ourselves. In a world where capital comes first, I guess the form I possess is culture. It’s what I’ve used to craft my own understanding and perspective of the world; it’s how I’ve coped and celebrated with the highs and lows of life; it’s through culture that I’ve created my own sense of identity.
I’m a 25 year old SoCal native currently based in the San Gabriel Valley. After completing my undergrad in 2021, I began working as a Cable TV Associate for the City of Chino’s media division, a position which allows me to tap into my passion for videography and video editing. On top of that, I also devote time to my hobbies and creative outlets. I play the bass guitar, read a wide array of books (or try to, at least), hit the gym on the regular, and enjoy catching a movie here and there. Moreover, I’m an observer of this world who, through trial and error, has learned how to participate in it. I walk out the door with my head held high and my capital on my sleeve. I spend my days working but also absorbing, finding beauty in the minutiae and peace in the small moments. I live and breathe for the freedom to create, to find peace through the outlet of creativity.
In a way, this site is my way of doing that. This site is my collection of writings, photography, videos, and other content that I wish to curate and share if, anything, to at least show an idea of my perspective on this crazy life. I hope you enjoy.
